The reading
A smooth silver stem descends into a deep curved hook with an inward-pointing barb, while rope-like twists gather around the loop above.
The two ends hold in different ways: one encloses a connection, the other offers a point of purchase. Together they suggest that staying committed requires both a secure beginning and a deliberate place to direct effort.

The symbol
The open side of the hook remains as important as its pointed end. It leaves an approach to the curve instead of making a sealed circle, suggesting an attachment entered deliberately rather than an obligation accepted without noticing where it leads.
The material
Sterling Silver forms both the smooth hook and the rope-like upper twists, specified by Peter Stone as .925 silver. The wrapped detail is part of the metal design, not a separate cord, relating a flexible-looking bond to the lasting responsibility it represents.
